South Australia leads prices as NEM average rises forty-seven percent

Regional average prices ranged from 65.6 dollars in Queensland to 93.6 dollars in South Australia. Queensland recorded the only negative price interval of the day, reaching a minimum of -2.5 dollars per megawatt hour.

Total demand peaked in New South Wales at 9,647 megawatts at 17:40, followed by Queensland and Victoria. The combined renewable share reached an instantaneous peak of 48.6% at 11:05, supported by solar and wind.

Coal remained the primary fuel source at 54.9%, while batteries discharged 14,748 megawatt hours to the grid. Total emissions for the trading day reached 343,810 tonnes of carbon dioxide, a 19.4% increase from last week.

FCAS costs were highest for Raise Regulation and Raise 6 Second services, with Tasmania seeing the most peak price activity. Interconnector flows showed significant transfers from Victoria into New South Wales and from Queensland into New South Wales.
