Market Snapshot

NEM average price reaches $66.8/MWh as NSW averages $88.6/MWh

NSW recorded the highest average price of $88.6/MWh, while SA had the lowest at $60.1/MWh. QLD registered 1.5 hours of negative prices, reaching a minimum of -$7.1/MWh at 13:30. SA and VIC each recorded 0.8 hours of negative prices.

NSW demand peaked at 9482 MW at 18:25, and QLD demand reached 7574 MW at 17:55. Coal accounted for 45.3 per cent of the generation mix, followed by wind at 16.1 per cent and rooftop solar at 15.9 per cent. Batteries discharged 17,942 MWh with a net position of -3075 MWh.

Total FCAS costs were low, with the highest being $40,308 for raise regulation. NEM emissions totalled 291,631 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 7.0 per cent above the same weekday last week.
