Update - Defect identified in the Negative Residue Management (NRM) application

AEMO has identified a defect in the Negative Residue Management (NRM) application that was released to Production on 14 September 2026 (refer to Market Notice 145160). The defect causes the accumulation of negative residues on directional interconnectors to be prematurely reset. This means the application may underestimate the cumulative negative residue, so that activation of NRM and associated clamping of interconnector flows would not occur when it otherwise may have. 

A fix is currently being developed and tested and is expected to be deployed later today (30 September 2026). A further update will be provided when the fix has been deployed or if deployment is delayed beyond today.
