System Normal constraint changes for Project Energy Connect

Starting at 1400 hrs 22 September 2026 AEMO will load the constraint equations for the registration of the Project Energy Connect (PEC) interconnector (effective on 1 October) and the energisation of PEC-2 (on 4 November 2026).

From this point the system normal constraint equations will represent PEC stage 2 being commissioned and energised. As PEC-2 will not be energised until 4 November the lines not yet energised will be modelled in the market systems using outage constraint sets.

The following constraint sets will be invoked:
I-X_BDBU_BUDW (replacing I-BDBU_ONE) - Outage of Bundey to Buronga (6F) 330kV line
N-X_6C_6G_6H - PEC-2 lines not energised - Bundey to Buronga (6C) and both Buronga to Dinawan (6G and 6H) 330kV lines - invoked from 1 October 2026
L-PEC_X_6C_6G_6H - loop flow constraint equation - also invoked from 1 October

These constraint equations have been loaded into AEMO's preproduction systems.
